Nourish yourself with words, wisdom and community in poetry together. We will explore how poetry is food for the soul while combining various ingredients of poetic forms in the welcoming and safe atmosphere Renee creates for aspiring writers of all levels. As we look to the natural world for a reflection of self, the essential spirit of herbs, flowers, vegetables, grasses and all available wild things will inspire us. Guided imagery, exploratory prompts and technical cues are thoughtfully presented for your personal enjoyment of the fun of writing – a path to expression that will leave you surprised by your skills and satisfied with the process. Bring you favorite journal and pen. “I am that flower, that mint, that columbine,” wrote Shakespeare in Love’s Labour’s Lost, Act 5, Scene 2 – and so are we all.
Renee is the recent recipient of the 2019 Cantor Poetry Prize awarded at the Telluride Literary Festival for the best poem submitted by a Colorado Poet. She is a licensed professional counselor and freelance writer residing in southwest Colorado. Both her chapbooks, “Let the Scaffolding Collapse,” a finalist of the New Women’s Voices Chapbook Competition, Finishing Line Press, 2012; and “If There Is a Center No One Knows Where It Begins,” Art Juice Press, 2008, are available at her website and at the workshop.
