Learn to make a zine like a pro, or at least as professional as the teens in your life! Sonja will provide you with the basic steps to produce a publishing masterpiece. A zine is a small handmade book that tells a specialized story. The theme of this zine workshop is gardening, so bring your drawings, photos, or journal entries about your garden. Which vegetables thrived this year? Which plant tastes the best? Which is the prettiest? A printer, various copying papers, staples and ink will be supplied. Walk in with your gardening images and words. Walk out with a gem of a zine.

Sonja is well known for publishing tiny books from her art journals. “White Woman Mouse War: W.W.M.W.” is an example. It is a small story about a sweet, little rural home overrun by mice and what an elder woman does to combat the infestation. It grew from first-hand experience and a need to draw what was happening at home in her kitchen! Sonja is a reporter for Four Corners Free Press, and the former Editor of Southwest Colorado Arts Perspective Magazine. She is a painter and a writer living in Cortez.
