Nonprofit Governance: What The Job Really Entails

What happens after you successfully recruit and elect new members to your board? New board members should be orientated to the organization and educated on what it means to serve on a nonprofit board. By educating new members, they gain the knowledge they need to successfully carry out their governance responsibilities. It is important to bring board members up to speed as soon as possible to prepare them for active participation. Serving on a nonprofit board should be a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Understanding what the job entails improves the board member’s experience and increases the effectiveness of the entire board. Please note that this workshop focuses on the primary roles and responsibilities of a nonprofit board and has been designed for both new and seasoned board members and executive directors. Everyone is welcome!
